Terms of Service
Effective date: July 27, 2026
Reslie is a macOS application provided by EcocommerceStudio Limited (registered in England and Wales, company no. 16240606) ("Reslie", "we", "us"). By downloading or using Reslie, you agree to these terms.
1. What Reslie is
Reslie is a desktop tool that helps researchers run live qualitative research sessions. It listens to session audio, reads your discussion guide, and surfaces real-time cues — coverage, pacing, and follow-up probes. It does not run sessions for you or make research decisions on your behalf. Reslie supports English-language sessions only.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use Reslie on your own Mac. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or reverse engineer the app.
3. Bring your own API key
Reslie requires an API key from Google Gemini (AI suggestions), which you set up under your own account. Transcription runs on your Mac using macOS's built-in speech recognition — no key and no third-party service are required. You are responsible for:
- Your own API usage and any associated costs
- Complying with Google's terms of service
- Any data you send to Google
Reslie has no visibility into your API usage, costs, or account status.
Google operates under its own terms and privacy policies, which it may change at any time. You are responsible for reviewing its current policies and deciding whether they meet your needs; Reslie does not control, and is not responsible for, its practices or any changes to them. Always refer to the latest policies — Google.
4. Research ethics and participant consent
You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from research participants and complying with applicable data protection laws — including GDPR where relevant. Reslie provides consent language guidance as a convenience; it is not legal advice. Compliance with your jurisdiction's requirements is your responsibility.
5. System requirements
Reslie currently supports macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later on Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs only. We don't guarantee compatibility with other configurations, operating systems, or future macOS versions.
6. No warranty
Reslie is provided "as is." We make no guarantees that it will work without interruption or error, or that it will be compatible with all video call software or macOS updates.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Reslie — including API costs, data loss, or session disruptions.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
8. Updates
We may update Reslie and these terms at any time. Continued use of Reslie after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
9. Privacy
Your use of Reslie is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
10. Termination
This license stays in effect until terminated. You may stop using Reslie at any time. Because Reslie is provided free of charge, we may suspend or end your license at any time, with or without cause. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue Reslie (in whole or in part) at any time, and we are under no obligation to provide updates, maintenance, or support. On termination, you must stop using Reslie and delete any copies. Sections that by their nature should survive — including License, No warranty, and Limitation of liability — continue to apply.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Reslie will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
